“Don’t take my PICTURE!”
The recipe is from EveryDay Food & is as follows:
Ingredients
*4 pints Brussels sprouts, ends trimmed and halved
*Coarse salt and ground pepper
*1 apple, cored and cut into 1/4-inch slices, each slice halved crosswise
*2 teaspoons red-wine vinegar
-
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Arrange bacon in a single layer on a large rimmed baking sheet. Bake until browned, 10 minutes. Add Brussels sprouts in a single layer; sprinkle with salt and pepper. Roast until they begin to brown, about 15 minutes.
-
Remove from oven, and toss in apple. Return to oven; roast until Brussels sprouts are browned and tender and apple has softened, 10 to 15 minutes.
-
Toss vegetables with vinegar, and serve immediately.

I love brussel sprouts, but my hubby turns into a 2 year old toddler girl when they're on the menu (which is basically never). Do you mean that 2 year old toddlers actually will eat them with this recipe? I HAVE to try it!
Sascha
I love Brusells sprouts but even with bacon I have yet to convince my three to eat 'em.
Joy
yum!

I tried this tonight, finally, but it didn't turn out like yours. Do you leave the bacon in the pan or remove it, I left mine in and it was burnt by the time I finished. Also, did you toss the sprouts in oil before roasting? My dish turned out really dry and didn't look anywhere near as apetizing as yours does in the photo.

I love cooking veggies w/ bacon and apple for the fall. I often put all my cut ingredients (seasoning too) in a large zip loc and toss with some olive oil. Then all I have to do is throw it on a pan and cook for 30 min or so taking it out every so often to stir.

This might just be my first attempt at eating brussel sprouts! Thanks for the fabulous recipe!
Rachel
My BF told me over and over that he did not like brussel sprouts, I now get requests once a week for this dish! So simply and so yummy!!

Making these for Thanksgiving dinner, will be reposting on my blog with your permission!

I made this at Thanksgiving. Fantastic. Even the kids raved about it. We have requests for a repeat performance for Christmas, and I’m making them again tonight too. I’m adding a little more apple and had 2 zucchini in the fridge to use up, so am going to throw those in too. This is on my Pinterest board which I think has sent a bunch of people to your blog. Thanks!

I just made this tonight (actually eating it right now!) and it is SO GOOD! It was so easy to make and so delicious! The bacon is perfectly crispy and goes so well with the brussel sprouts 🙂 I did leave it in a little longer but that’s only because I like my brussel sprouts really, really dark! Thanks for posting this!
Regina
Hmm….I wanted to print just the recipe….but your print button gave me 10 PAGES!! Ink is expensive! I was complying with your request, but I’m wishing now I had just opted to copy/paste 🙁
Recipe sounds delicious….making it for dinner tonight.

OK, so brussell sprouts, the only thing my daddy ever made me eat. I hated them. If only my mom would have had this recipe. These look delicious, maybe after 50 years Ill learn to love them as much as my daddy.
Michelle
So delicious! Made tonight and we loved it. Maybe some more bacon and apple next time, but there will definitely be a next time!
Natasha
Yay! So glad you liked it, it’s definitely an all time fav of mine!

Just made this tonight! I only cooked the bacon for 5 minutes, brussels sprouts for 10 and then tossed them with the apples and baked for another 5. We have a crazy oven, but I just thought I’d mention in case anyone’s having problems with over-cooking. I also skipped the vinegar step (because we didn’t have any) and it was still delish! Thanks so much for posting. I will definitely make this again!
Natasha
You’re so welcome, thanks for the tips!
Patricia
I kept an eye on my sprouts (I use precooked bacon) and they were VERY toasty after the first ten minutes. I shortened cooking times by half after that and everything was perfect. I have a newer gas oven (seems like my convection oven) and I, too, have to keep an eye on everything. Super yummy recipe. Additional comments below:-)
J
I used these times and it came out perfectly. Maybe my oven runs hot too? IDK. 20 minutes would definitely leave me with burnt bacon. I

Absolutely LOVED this recipe! I was out of Red Wine Vinegar so I used Balsamic…Yummy!!! Thank you!!!
Patricia
Made this last night! My whole family LOVED this! Even my hubby who “hates” brussel sprouts is a convert:-) Thanks for a great recipe.
Linda
I really don’t like brussel sprouts and I don’t want to make this and still hate brussel sprouts and have a wasted dish. Can I substitute broccoli or cauliflower instead?
Natasha
It’s worth a try! I’d go for cauliflower…not so sure about the broccoli apples combo. Let me know if you do!
Patricia
FYI – So good making it again tonight. Yummy, can’t wait:-)
jennifer
I came across this recipe and REALLY wanted to try it…but I didn’t have any bacon or any sweet apples. I used Coconut Oil and a more sour apple. The Coconut Oil was great, but I definitely recommend a sweet, tough apple. Will most definitely make again.
BTW, all my kids, ages 9,11,13, and 15 eat Brussels sprouts regularly and love them.
Lola A
Can these be made ahead and reheated?
Natasha
Unfortuntely I wouldn’t recommend it, the bacon & roasted leaves lose their crispiness which is key, sorry!

This has become my favorite, go-to recipe for brussel sprouts. Superb flavor combo. I usually make enough to set aside some to take as lunch and it eats like its own meal. Yum, and thank you for sharing.
Natasha
You’re welcome and so glad to hear you love it!
