CRAFT Magazine that is, and let me tell you, I AM PISSED!
I ordered a subscription to ‘Craft’ back in January and only received 2 issues. I contacted the company when I started receiving ‘Make’ magazine instead. ‘Make’ is all about how to make your own motors out of toothpicks and the latest in electrotechnology news. (yes, I totally just made that word up) At first I thought they were just sending me an issue to sample it, then after the 2nd one and still no ‘Craft’ I thought they must have mixed up my order. That’s when I received the reply from the company below…
Dear Natasha,
Thank you for contacting Craft magazine.
Unfortunately Craft magazine is going to cease publication and merge with make magazine.
Don’t worry though, for all Craft subscribers, we are going to extend a Make subscription to you for the remaining balance on your craft account.
We understand that Make seems more “guy” like compared to craft, although Make will now contain issues that have more of a craft feel.
In the mean time, all Craft subscribers will have access to all past digital issues until April 1.
We apologize for any inconveniences.

magazine. My subscription to Craft was quite expensive compared to
other magazines and since I’m not receiving what I purchased I would
like a refund.

Seriously?! I mean, seriously?!? I don’t know if any of you subscribe(d) to ‘Craft’ but if I remember correctly that subscription costs me close to $40. That’s a lot for a magazine! I’ll be damned if I’m going to just accept that they can take my money & not give me what I paid for.
I said that back to Mr. Christopher in so many words, I also told him that I’d be letting all of you know about this situation and I’d be reporting it to the BBB since it’s starting to look like a bit of a scam. I’m normally not the type to actually follow through with a complaint but man oh man has this got my feathers ruffled! Maybe it’s just the latent anger I have from watching the season premiere of Jon & Kate plus 8 on tivo this morning. I mean, yes I kind of did buy the Us Weekly with the headline “Kate, Mom or MONSTER?!” but now I totally feel guilty and want the paparazzi to leave them alone, damn you paparazzi for breaking up my reality family!
So, tell me, am I overreacting here or would you be just as pissed too?

I don’t think you are overreacting. you are not getting what you paid for and should be entitled to a refund. they should of offered that as an option to you instead of assuming all their readers wanted to receieve a different magazine in the place of ‘craft’. shame on them…and good for you for reporting them to the BBB =)
I agree with your reaction. You should get what you pay for or get a refund. That is just not right.
I also echo your feeling on Jon & Kate. It was very sad to watch the season premier. I almost feel guilty for watching the show – like I'm contributing to the madness.
I’m one of the few people who have always loved Kate. She’s a great mother and that’s all that really matters. My friend and I were watching last night and were thinking now what a SLEAZE Jon seems like!

I don't think it's a scam, but I DO think it's jacked up. CRAFT is MAD expensive (pretty much why I've never bought it) and MAKE is NOT the same thing, even if they do throw in a little craft. I think what it likely is is that the over-priced mag is going belly up and they don't HAVe the money to send back or they're trying to cut their losses, and it's way cheaper for them to send you MAKE than give the money back. It's not right, and I'd be pissed too! Good for you for speaking up!!!
