I never thought I’d love daylight savings time but I do, it’s totally my new BFF. Yes, for most of the world an hour’s worth of sleep was lost over the weekend but for me it was exactly what I needed.
If you read my post yesterday you’ll know that I’ve been having a hard time with Sam waking up way too early in the morning. 5am to be exact. I wanted to try keeping her up a little later but wasn’t sure how since she gets tired early, enter daylight savings! The clocks moving forward an hour plus a little push of my own was exactly what I needed to move everything in her schedule forward a bit. She wasn’t hungry for dinner until 5:30, got a bath an hour later and went to sleep an hour after that, and guess what? Woke up at 7a this morning! YAY!!!! Now, she was up a few times during the night which wasn’t fun but I don’t care, 5a came and went without Sam or I knowing any better. Sighhhhhh, such relief. I really thought I was going to lose my mind for awhile there. I honestly don’t know if I could’ve taken one more day of my eyes burning because I was so tired. Well, I guess I would’ve dealt with it but I don’t know if P could take another day of the royal b*tch I was quickly becoming.
Daylight savings wasn’t the only good part about the weekend, the weather was AWESOME! Apparently we weren’t the only ones who rushed outside to enjoy the break in winter. The park was packed!
Since we moved to DC one of “our spots” has been the park next to Reagan airport, after radio P’s favorite thing is anything airplane and at this park you not only have a great view of the city but it’s right on the Potomac and the planes literally come in a few hundred feet above your head. I don’t really care about planes, except of course that they stay in the air when they’re supposed to, but even I get kind of geeked out when we come here. We’ve brought Sam before but have watched from the car because I was worried the planes would be too loud for her, this time we took her out and although she jumped whenever one landed she’d also laugh and seemed to really enjoy being outside with mom & pops.
