Are you a sucker for this super cute duct tape that’s out too? I usually try to resist, after all $5 for a roll of duct tape is silly right? But then I saw the Hello Kitty one at Target, I had to have it. Once I got it home I started thinking about what I could do with it, that’s when it hit me, a headband! Today I’ll show you how to make it & then in Part 2 I’ll post the tutorial for the bows.
Now next you see that fancy smancy duct tape you’ll have an excuse to buy it too.
You’re welcome. (apologies to your pocketbook. Hehe, pocketbook, what are you, 80?)
For the headband you’ll need duct tape, 1 & 1/2″ wide ribbon, 1/2″ elastic & a sewing machine

For the headband you’ll need duct tape, 1 & 1/2″ wide ribbon, 1/2″ elastic & a sewing machine
1st step is to cut your ribbon & elastic so the total length is the circumference of the child’s head. For Sam I used 12″ of ribbon & 6″ of elastic.
Fold the ribbon slightly over the ends of the elastic like in the image below (this creates a tapered headband) & stitch each end of the ribbon to each end of the elastic going back & forth several times.Next unroll enough of your duct tape to cover the ribbon. On the end of the tape fold over the edge a bit. While smoothing with one hand roll your headband onto the tape. Then smooth down one of the small long edges followed by folding over the tapered edges. Repeat with the other side. The final step is just to go around the entire perimeter with your machine. (I went around twice) The stitches will not only help to give the piece a finished look but they’ll keep the tape permanently tacked down.
That’s it! Up next, duct tape bows. Then perhaps flowers? And who knows…this could get kinky.

Cute! I got that same duct tape to make stuff for my girls too! I am going to make some little purses or coin purses this weekend with it. 🙂
