I just couldn’t wait for the fabric I mentioned before to come in, I just had to try out some smocking! Seriously, this was REALLY EASY. It can seem intimidating but is definitely worth a try. I followed the directions here but obviously adjusted the size for me. I smocked a piece of fabric that was 44″ wide and did 14 rows across.
The 44″ actually shrunk a little too snug so I added a panel in the back, but then that was a bit too loose so I added the tie-up ribbon over the panel and actually love the look. If anyone asks I TOTALLY did that on purpose. (;
I also added pockets which was a big fat pain in the butt since I had no idea what I was doing but in the end was completely worth it because I’m a sucker for dresses with pockets.
Samster is transitioning from two to one nap a day which good side is she’s taking one power 3 hr nap and I can get an entire dress just about done, bad news is her little battery isn’t quite ready to make it the rest of the day and she’s a bear by bathtime. I hope she takes another good nap tomorrow, I want to make another one!!
ps. If you look closely you’ll notice that the hem at the bottom is just pressed and not stitched yet, I ran out of time to completely finish it but was just dying to share the pics tonight!

Natasha,
I'm lovin' it, I think you should definetly make in bulk and sell them. I will be your first customer. 🙂 Great job I love the fabric that you used. You are inspiration to me, my mother is an interior designer and has always made clothes for me and I have never had the interest nor the time, but since I have been reading your blog I have really want to learn how to make things. Let me just say one thing at a time, I can't even draw a straight line with a ruler. I guess maybe its not for me, I definetly went out and bought a lot of fabric like I was going to make a ton of things 🙂
