Around mid-week at my mom’s we made a run to Jo-Ann’s, I was especially looking for Sam-worthy crafts & came across these ‘learn to sew’ cards. I wasn’t so sure she was ready for these but they said 3+ so I went ahead & bought them.
Let me tell you, WORTH EVERY PENNY!
I gave her a quick lesson about going in through the front & then out from the back & that was it. She snatched that little bear up & got to work. Yes, every once in awhile she’d go the wrong way & need me to unlace a few “stitches” but it only took a sec to fix. She played with these for an hour at least, 3 times this week, including an hour of our airplane ride home today. Which was completely awesome since her baby sister is NUTZ & insists on repeatededly greeting whatever poor soul is sitting behind us on the plane. If only I could teach her social cues like not getting a “hi” back means stop greeting. Ah well, in time little one. In time.
Of course you could easily make these yourself if you got some really stiff cardboard. In fact you could make an entire additional project out of it by cutting out several outfits for your bears & painting them first. That would be a lot of work though, & right now my energy level is perfectly fine with buying the whole shebang in a bag. Speaking of, my little update for anyone who wants to know is that I’m feeling much much better. Week 3 was definitely a turning point & while I still feel a bit “limey” (fatigue, joint pain) from time to time during each day the overall days are doable. I have one more week of meds & then that’s it, hopefully it will all be over!! (say a little/BIG prayer)
Although now that I’m re-reading that last paragraph it’s actually putting a nice sparkly bandaid on the whole situation. It was quite that easy. I had a major tantrum/meltdown this afternoon re:the last month but I think in the end it was a really good thing. What I needed to find the energy to get back on track. I’ll explain more tomorrow, promise.
Hope you had a nice weekend, it’s gonna be a great week, I know it!!

I had some of those when I was a little girl. I LOVE them! Maybe you can make Sam some different shapes to sew. 🙂

Glad you’re feeling better. Hope you’re 100% asap. xoxo
And it’d be great if we could teach some adults to socialize with toddlers, wouldn’t it? If a kid says hi, say it back. Gah.
