Today was one of those mornings where everything was actually going pretty smoothly. For some reason we were actually ahead of schedule. I actually had a chance to put on makeup with a bit more precision than just slappin’ concealer in the general direction of my eyes.
We were downstairs, shoes on, walking out the door when I went to grab my cell phone. Hmm, not by my keys.
No, not in my purse.
After a few minutes of looking in the usual spots I remembered that Samster had taken it off the counter when I was putting on said makeup. She must have left it on the floor…I went upstairs, nope, no cell phone. Anywhere. I went back down & started calling it, all I heard was the vibrating so I spent the next 20 minutes (YES…TWENTY.) calling my phone & trying to use my spidey sense to track down the dull vibrations. Of course everytime I called it Samster would squawk or press tickle me Elmo’s belly. Grrrr…
After emptying the toy chest where I heard the vibrations the best for the 3rd time I was just about to lose any remaining drop of mommy cool left in my body so I took a deep breath, said a little prayer & then remembered that sometimes when the vibrations sound dull it’s because the phone isn’t actually nearby. It’s in another room but I can hear the vibrations through the walls…
I ran back upstairs, called it again & FINALLY heard it ring along with vibrate loud & clear. Surely, I never would’ve thought to have looked here…Yep. That’s the trash. In our bathroom. Sandwiched amongst the dirty diapers, snotty tissues & ear waxy q-tips was my cell phone. (this trash can is on the 2nd floor directly above the toy chest on the 1st floor where I thought the phone was hiding)
As I thought back to when she slyly pulled the phone off the counter she didn’t just play next to me like I had assumed, the little sneak managed to go to the toilet area, quietly lift the lid to the trash can, drop off my phone, close the lid & get back to my side without me even noticing.
Obviously, I’ve underestimated her. We were late to the pediatrician which I’m beginning to think wasn’t just a coincidence.
Well played Samster Baby, well played indeed.

Haha little stinker! At least it wasn't in the potty. One time I flushed my dad's keys at church, they spent hours searching for them so they could go home. No one thought to ask me, when they did, I marched them right to the potty ๐

At least it wasn't the other lid that she opened!

Ahh!! That happens to me all the time… with my keys! The little one likes to jingle them and she ALWAYS puts them somewhere I can't find.

Great story. Those little kids are so darn sneaky. My phone is always lost because my daughter likes to play with it. My husband is always irritated because he can never get a hold of me. ๐

Once, one of my little people must have put mine on the floor and the cat knocked it under the book case in the living room. I could hear the darn thing vibrate, but couldn't find it. I searched the book case up and down… apparently just not down far enough.

Ok. This cracks me up. Addison takes my phone all the time now "my phone" she says… runs and giggles… and sometimes I allow her because its dinner time or something… and it keeps her quiet, and running after her everytime is not nearly as much fun for me as for her… but when I call my cell…. I don't have reception all the time in my house… so… I'm desparately trying to listen…. and I kid you not… once it does start ringing,…. and I'm walking around looking for it… thats when Addison starts talking, singing, anything she can do.. these babies.. they know what they are doing.. I dont' care what anyone else says… they are malicious theives….. intent on driving us insane some mornings.. God help us for the teen years!

haha she sounds like such a little cutie! x
