Every week she begs to go to ballet class & every week she refuses to go in once we get there. Does anyone else’s kid do this?
Hope you had a lovely mother’s day, I didn’t do any homemade gifts this year but my girlfriend Brooke made this adorable tote for her MIL using the photo silhouette technique & pictures of her girls. What a great idea, right?!
The one thing I really wanted today was time to myself. P kept the little ones busy all day & I actually did laundry, made my grocery list for the week, put away the hundred zillion piles that accumulate on all the dressers in the house & now it is THE BEST feeling to be laying in bed & know that I’m starting my week off with a clean, organized house.
Whewwwwwww, relief feels good.

With that done I think I can be a little more fun with my goals for the week:
1) Organize my old posts with labels
2) Finish Sophie’s monster softie
3) Cook 4 times (I know, I’m CRAZY!)
What about you? What would you be able to take a deep sigh of relief about if you got it done?

D.would always do that for baseball, talk about it all day and then sit with a frown on his face refusing to play. Happy Mother's Day !

LOL! my 4yo does the exact same thing, outside she's a total ballerina but when we get there sometimes she won't go in.

My girls do this but the teachers are great and just pick them up and as soon as they are in there they forget all about mummy and have a wonderful time dancing!

Hope you enjoyed your alone time Natasha! I am finally starting to get a balance on being a mama of 3, housewife and part time worker (outside of the home). It is still crazy, but I am learning to have more fun. 🙂
My goals for this week–
fill out my 2 week dinner calendar
wash, fold and put away laundry
finish planting my geraniums in deck planters
sweet cheeks designs
i had to go in and sit with with my then 2 year old for the first 3 classes. on the 4th class, she told me to leave:). sometimes they just need to observe for a bit before jumping in.
What I Did Today
I actually just pulled my oldest out of dance because she wouldn't behave in class. Not a huge surprise – 2 is rather young to be a ballerina. Love that pic of your cutie though. She's watching so she's still learning vicariously. 🙂 If I could just get all my piles put away, I'd let out that huge sigh of relief!

My 4 year old nephew does the same thing with Karate class… Loves to put on his "gee" (little white outfit) and then sits on the "sidelines" when he gets there.
Ricki
My almost 4 year old daughter did the same thing with gymnastics. It did get a little better over time, but I spent more than a few afternoons doing the moves with her! I really need to work on my somersaults. 😉

Isn't it funny how an ideal Mother's Day is to be away from the kids and off doing productive household things!? I started my morning with organizing my makeup drawer and ribbon stash. And it felt SO good 🙂 great perspective on your picture!

Aw, I love that picture! I finally got back to crafty and finished all the little shop orders that I had backed up, so my goal is to craft for fun, and make Natalie a Black Apple Doll.

Oh that photo is a keeper. She will cherish that one when she is all grown up. It will end up in a frame looking all retro. Definitely will be a favorite for generations.

My daughter (6 y/o) did the same thing with dance. Actually, she still does. I have been making her go b/c she enjoys it when she gets there! And now she was asked to join the competitive team, and is super excited. Have her stick it out, or check out some other dance schools. It may be the place. We switched to a non-profit school where there isn't so much pressure on the girls, plus…I can see what goes on, and I have noticed there isn't much of a fight now. It's more of the "morning" thing, where she doesn't want to get up! haha! I don't know what area you are in, but Frederick Co. has a really good non-profit performing arts school. I have been super pleased with.

My 3 year old daughter is very much the same way. She gets so excited to go to Sunday school and then when we get there she looks in on the class and promptly declares that she doesn't want to go in.

My daughter did the same. I finally worked out it was the empty, echo-y room. The teacher was great and held the lesson outside for a few weeks and they just went in the room towards the end to "make echoes". After a couple of weeks they moved the lesson inside and all was fine. The teacher told me that it was a common problem with the littles as the empty sounding and looking room makes a lot of little kids feel abandoned and frightened, particularly when they don't really know either the teachers or the other kids.

Natasha – I teach dance – totally normal for that age. One day they just snap out of it and jump in class right away – it just takes time.
