So over the weekend I stayed up late each night (and cursed myself every morning) & created this…It’s going to be a work in progress, so far I’ve only written one post.
I quickly learned that each post requires a bit of time as there’s research to be done & a gazillion links to be inserted.
Also I’m kind of scared to launch it because it really will only work if the veteran mom’s leave comments with their opinions so we get a nice, fat, wealth of UNBIASED (meaning no babies r’ us/depot/crazy baby warehouse influencing any of the content) information.
Some of us are lucky enough to have besties around that can guide us through the insanity of pregnancy & the marathon of the newborn phase but for others either we live in a new city with no support system yet or we’re the first of our girlfriends to take the plunge into motherhood. It’s for you that I created the ‘Unbiased Guide for the New Mom’. I hope you like it.
You can read the first post on ‘Best Carseat: Infant seat V. Convertible Seat’ here. I figured getting the kid home was a good place to start.
Please do not copy & paste any of my content without prior permission, pictures of Samster & Sophie are strictly prohibited. Links to my post however are always welcome!

I LOVE THIS idea!! I'm 10 weeks away from having our first child (a girl!) and it is really overwhelming just walking into BuyBuyBaby. I did get the Chicco infant car seat and have been going on some recommendations from family/friends, but am looking forward to your future posts!!

I too LOVE this idea… As a former nanny I totally felt like I had a leg up in this area to start out with, but I know a TON of mom's to be who are CLUELESS as to what to do and what they need or don't need… If you need a guest or any research assistance (I am 28 weeks and on bed rest) just let me know!

When I was pregnant, I sent an email out to all the new mom's I knew and compiled a list of likes/dislikes/necessities/gimmicks for registering/general future reference. I now keep adding to this list to pass on to my new mommy friends. I think plenty of women out there will thank you!

I don't have any kids yet, but I am so excited about your new site!!! I know once we do have kids that it will be an invaluable resource to us. I will pass on the link to my expecting friends 🙂

Fantastic idea. If you have trouble getting veteran moms to reply, you could post links to get feed back on birth groups (on Baby Center/Cafe Mom). There are always plenty of moms willing to share their opinions!

What a lovely idea! And I think it will even be helpful for a lot of veteran moms as well. Cause lets face it, we are still learning too! I may have two babies now, but my second is completely different than my first so I am having to learn how to do lot of things in completely different ways. For example, my first baby hated to be swaddled and nearly panicked anytime her arms/legs were retrained. So when my second came along I didn't even bothered trying to swaddle her for weeks. Until one night of desperation, we discovered that she would sleep for 8 hours straight if we swaddled her. The tighter the better.
As far as product advice though, I think its best to ask someone you know personally and that has a similar lifestyle to you. For example, I may not be able to live without a certain baby product, while other moms with different lifestyles would find it useless. Some moms swear by baby wearing and for others it makes more sense to carry them in a car seat. I think for the most part you cant really know what kind of mom you're going to be until the kid pops out and you have time to experiment with new things.
