I finished Samster’s hat yesterday afternoon and the flower only took 20 min later that night while watching tv in bed. Although I love the finished result of knitting I feel like it takes forever & I always end up getting bored. I have MANY half knitted projects in my yarn bin. Very sad. Crocheting on the other hand is much faster & in my opinion much easier & forgiving of mistakes.
Her books are how I taught myself both techniques, the instructions are very clear, the illustrations are detailed and as you can tell by the titles she’s got some spunky humor going on. I don’t know Debbie and she certainly doesn’t know me but I’m happy to say I’ve put some money in her pocket by buying her books. It was money well spent!

I'm not a fan but I heard Crocs are really comfortable. I don't know if you can wear them with your uniform or not but I don't see why a nice white pair wouldn't work.

Cute hat! I would have told you that I would NEVER wear Crocs – the big ones are U-gly!
But, I found some that don't even look like Crocs – I've had several people ask me what kind of shoes they are. Anyway, I got them from endless.com – they are the Olivia Sling-back. I got the brown ones and really love them. Plus, with endless you get free shipping/free returns.

There are companies that make shoes specfically for hospital and pharmacy type jobs that are comfortable. You should google it to find out where a store close to you might be. I am not sure what is allowed for you, but I wear New Balance athelete shoes. They are comfortable since they were made for "working out" and they have a good color scheme to them as well.

Shoe suggestion for you- Dansko or Sanita brands are amazing for working long hours, plus they come in really cute patterns. I have the Sanitas in snake skin. They're worth the money and will easily last 5 years or longer 🙂

Shoes For Crews is the best brand for non slip comfy shoes….some of them are even kind of cute….are you wearing scrubs? SFC has a pair of slip on "crocs" without the holes that are crazy comfy. I was a restaurant manager and I worked on my feet 10+ hours a day until the day before I had my baby and those are the shoes I wore and I swear by them….ok, I'm off my soap box now. Have fun in booby land tomorrow. You will be amazing =o)

That hat is sooo cute…I love the flower!!! Maybe I should learn to crochet!
Good luck on your first day at work? What are you doing in the hospital? I wish I had a good shoe recommendation for you, but I've always just worn sneakers….good luck!

I love the hat. I have always wanted to try crocheting, but thought it was very involved, and you would have to take a class. I think I will try the "Stick n Bitch" book, especially since you said that you learned to crochet that way.
How long does a hat like that take to crochet?

LOVE the hat! I am a burn survivor and now volunteer at a hospital for burn patients and the nurses and docs there wear a lot of Merrells and Crocs which are not cute (the Crocs). You can find cute Merrells Mary Jane ones and they are VERY comfy. Crocs just make our feet look too big for for your body, you are small and you don't duck feet! 🙂

Are they asking you to wear a certain type of shoe with your scrubs or just a comfy one? Your converse would be cool. In my opinion, you want to relate the person who is going to be "yanking your chains" so to speak and not be so medical and there not be so much distance there. Be approachable. My LC didn't even tell me her name and just started just pulling my boobies and I thnk they forget you just pushed a baby out and you are cranky and boobs are as big as melons and are tender…BE MY FRIEND! Anyway, be a cool LC and don't look like every other goober nurse . You're young and cool and be just that!!! 🙂

Cute hat.
Klogs (klogs.com). Super comfortable, loads of styles.
P.S. I think you meant"voulez-vous crochet" in your title (sorry was a french major so I can't help myself) 😉

I've been thinking about knitting or crocheting because I wanted to make little hats for Cady, too. A knit hat and mittens set at Macy's was $18, and I just thought it would be nice to make them myself however I wanted and for a lot less. I didn't know which to try, but now I'm convinced, to crochet it is. I'll probably get that book at some point, too. Thanks for the recommendation. I'll make sure you get credit for it when I do.

I'll vote for crocs too. They do have some cute-ish styles. (Emphasis on ISH) I wear their flip flops all summer though.
However I have been pining after a pair of Merrells at the shoe store. Very comfy.
I have the same feelings about knitting (takes me forever to knit anything), but I haven't ventured into crochet-world.

Danskos, hands down! Hope you had a good day, and adorable hat!

Danskos!!

I love the hat. I have that book and was wondering which pattern you based it off of. What was the stitch you used at the bottom of the hat, I would love to make it for my daughter. So cute.
